DataShare: New platform, service supports public access to research data

By Office of the Vice President for Research

DataShare, a data repository for sharing, publishing and archiving research data created by Iowa State University scholars and researchers, completed beta testing earlier this fall. This resource is the result of a two-year partnership between the Office of the Vice President for Research, University Library and the Office of the Chief Information Officer.

DataShare provides Iowa State researchers and scholars a way to publicly share research data that meets data-sharing requirements specified by government and private research sponsors. Before data sets are published on DataShare, they go through a review process to make sure the data is suitable and appropriate for sharing. Once published, data sets are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), making them visible in search engines like Google.

Researchers and scholars interested in using DataShare for current and future projects may go online for more information or contact the DataShare team at datashare@iastate.edu.
