Matching Funds for Equipment Proposals

The Vice President for Research and Economic Development (VPR/ED) may contribute funds to meet the mandatory matching requirements on proposals to external agencies for the purchase of major equipment. The availability of these funds depends on the budget situation.
In general, the percent of the match is specified in the RFP. If it is not, the PI is urged to obtain at least 50% of the equipment cost from the sponsor. In exceptional cases, the University may cover more than 50% of the equipment costs. Please contact the VPR/ED office if a match greater than 50% is required by the sponsor.

The funds requested from the VPR/ED office should not exceed 40% of the total commitment from all ISU sources. All other ISU matching commitments must be secured prior to submitting a request to the VPR/ED office.

Faculty and other personnel with approved PI status at ISU may apply using the form above. Documentation must be provided on the matching requirements of the sponsor. Indicate all cost-sharing commitments from other ISU units. Please submit your request to the VPR/ED office at least one week before the sponsor's deadline.
