The Office for Responsible Research (ORR) provides administrative services and leadership for Iowa State University's research compliance program. The ORR's mission is to assist the VPR in providing a research environment that fosters honesty, integrity, and a sense of community. Iowa State's compliance program includes conflict of interest, research integrity, export control, and research compliance review committees.
The purpose of the compliance review committees is to review and approve all relevant proposals to ensure that they are in compliance with university, local, state, federal, and funding agency regulations for research. All investigators—faculty, professional and scientific staff, undergraduate and graduate students—with either internal or external funding must obtain approval from the appropriate research compliance review committee(s) before initiating any work on the project and before the Office of Sponsored Programs Administration will process the award.
