Information for StudentsThe Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium provides an opportunity for Iowa State University to showcase and celebrate the research of our most highly motivated undergraduate students through oral presentations at faculty-moderated sessions. Student participation is not limited to Honors students, and we expect to have a wide range of disciplines represented. Students will make 15-minute oral presentations in sessions moderated by faculty members. The presentations must be supported by PowerPoint. The Honors Program will organize pre-Symposium workshops to help students develop effective presentations. Undergraduate students interested in, but not yet engaged in, research are welcome and encouraged to attend Symposium sessions to learn more about the nature and scope of undergraduate research activities at Iowa State. Students interested in participating in the Symposium should complete and return an electronic copy of the completed Abstract Submission Form to lmerrick@iastate.edu and return a hard copy of the completed form signed by the faculty mentor to: Undergraduate Research Symposium Submission, 2130 Jischke Honors Building, Iowa State University, Ames, IA 50011. The submission deadline is Thursday, February 14, 2008. Abstracts will be reviewed by faculty and qualified graduate students. Students will be notified by e-mail whether their submissions have been accepted. Session information (time and location) will follow. Student presenters are encouraged to attend other Symposium activities, including the opening ceremony, other sessions, and the luncheon. Students not presenting papers are also welcome to participate in the various Symposium activities.
